The next step is selecting a picture with such attributes. With current technologies, one can easily look up such a picture on the internet or any other source. If you fail to get one, then get any other forest picture. Paste the picture into the canvas. Press ctrl T shift to scale down the picture to the rightful size. Use layer masking technique to get rid of the harsh edges to give a nice blend to the dark background.
Adjustments on the background picture can be made by choosing layer, then new adjustment layer. The first choice is hue saturation; this will give different varieties of saturations. On the drop down menu, you can choose color adjustments; select one that contributes towards the final effect of the poster.
You may need to create light effects on the picture especially if it is dark or you used black color on the background picture. On the pen tablet, you will need the burn tool for darkening selected parts of the picture, for instance on the forest picture you could darken the tree trunks and ground. Use different sizes to achieve varied effects. The other tool to use is a dodge tool; it is used to create lighting effects on the picture. Use it to create highlights on the picture.
Now chose a picture of the rugged person journeying on in to the dark forest. Carefully using the selection tool Selects out the picture and drags it into the picture and places it strategically on the dark path. On the layer pallet select the picture and drag it around to the best location. Use the gradient tool to get rid of any harsh edges.
Insert the title of the movie and using fonts, blur and other effects make the text to your liking. This is just a quick guide to how to make a poster in Photoshop; with practice you will get much better designs.
